Project Launch: "Cyber Lowata Piyapath" (First Phase)
A Monumental Milestone for Digital Education in Sri Lanka
We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of the first phase of the "Cyber Lowata Piyapath" (සයිබර් ලොවට පියාපත්) project, engaging 300 schools island-wide. Operated by Webcomms Global (Pvt) Ltd. under the auspices of the LK Domain Registry and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, this initiative is transforming digital education across the nation.
The launch event in Avissawella was graced by Prof. Gihan Dias (CEO, LK Domain Registry), Mrs. Vasana Edirisuriya (Director of IT, Ministry of Education), Webcomms executives, and representatives from 12 education zones. The ceremony coincided with the simultaneous launch of websites at both the zonal and school levels.
Since commencing in 2021, the initiative has grown rapidly, reaching a monumental milestone in 2026. We have proudly established Sri Lanka’s largest school website network, deploying 1,649 school websites across 67 education zones. Beyond infrastructure, this project has empowered over 20,000 students and 2,000 teachers with vital IT and digital skills training, equipping them for the future.
